Description:Paclobutrazol
Paclobutrazol (PBZ) is a Plant Growth Regulator and triazole Fungicide. It is a known antagonist of the plant hormone gibberellin. It acts by inhibiting gibberellin biosynthesis, reducing internodial growth to give stouter stems, increasing root growth, causing early fruitset and increasing seedset in plants such as tomato and pepper.
Functional characteristics:
Paclobutrazol is a plant growth retardant with a broad spectrum and is effective for most crops
☆ Inhibit apical dominance, control vigorous growth, and resist lodging:
☆ Improve plant resistance to drought, cold damage, frost damage, and pathogens:
☆ Has a certain bactericidal effect.

Application method | Commonly used methods in flower production include soaking (bulbs), soil application, leaf spraying and drying. Among them, soaking, soil application and leaf spraying have the best effect, and the effect is long-lasting and stable. There are two ways to apply paclobutrazol to soil. One is to plant foliage and flower plants on the ground. Dig a circular trench about 5 cm deep around the crown, spread it evenly into the trench and then irrigate it in time. The second is to apply paclobutrazol to indoor potted flowers in the pot. Drill holes in the soil and water immediately after application. Leaf spraying is mostly carried out in the early stages of growth. The spraying time and concentration of paclobutrazol are different for different flowers, soil quality, and nutritional management levels. The method of spraying paclobutrazol is the same as that of general fertilizer spraying, but attention should be paid to uniform application of the fertilizer on the growing points. |
Application dosage and concentration | It varies depending on factors such as variety, growth, age, soil quality, etc. The soil application rate is generally 0.25 grams per square meter. When spraying the leaves, the concentration of paclobutrazol is 800 to 1500 ppm. Soak the roots (bulbs) for 5 to 8 hours. The dosage and concentration of paclobutrazol for woody flowers can be slightly higher, while the dosage of paclobutrazol for herbaceous flowers should be lower. Use paclobutrazol with caution on orchids. |
Application time | Different paclobutrazol application methods have different paclobutrazol application times. Soil application is usually done in spring before flower buds sprout (spring flowers); leaf spray is usually used when the new shoots grow about 10 to 15 centimeters that year. Deciduous flowers and trees can be treated with paclobutrazol some time in advance to ensure timely effectiveness. |
Frequency of application | Since paclobutrazol has a long-lasting effect, it is generally applied once and the effect can last for 3 to 5 years, so the frequency of application should be strictly controlled. Soil application should be done once every 3 years at most, and foliar spray should be done once a year. If used in consecutive years, the concentration should be reduced year by year. If growth is found to be extremely weak, use should be stopped. If necessary, gibberellin can be sprayed to help restore growth. 5. Paclobutrazol efficacy sluggish period |
