Description:Ethephon
Name | Ethephon |
Molecular weight | 144.49 |
Appearance | Liquid |
Action object | All kinds of fruits, such as bananas, citrus, tomatoes, watermelons, rubber, sumac, cotton, tobacco |
Specification | 40%AS,75%TC,80%TC,90%TC |
Effect | Promote female flower differentiation, promote fruit ripening, promote plant dwarfing, and break plant dormancy. |
Used for cotton ripening | If the cotton has sufficient stamina and there are many autumn peaches, ethephon is often used to ripen it. Applying ethephon to cotton requires that most of the cotton bolls in the cotton field must be more than 45 days old, and the maximum temperature during application must be above 20 degrees. For cotton ripening, ethephon water is sprayed in the morning or when the temperature is high. In general, after applying ethephon to cotton, it can accelerate cotton boll cracking, reduce post-frost flowers, effectively improve cotton quality, and thereby increase cotton yield. |
Used to ripen tomatoes | There are generally two ways to use ethephon to ripen tomatoes. One is to soak the fruits after harvest. For tomatoes that have grown but are not yet mature and are in the "color change period", put them into an ethephon solution with a concentration of 0.001%~0.002%. , and then the tomatoes will turn red and mature after being stacked for a few days. The second is to apply the ethephon solution on the tomato tree, with a concentration of 0.002% to 0.004%, on the tomato fruits in the "color change period". The tomatoes ripened by this method are similar to naturally mature fruits. |
Used to ripen bananas | To use ethephon to ripen bananas, generally use 0.0005%~0.001% concentration ethephon solution to soak or spray on the seven or eight ripe bananas. If the temperature is too high, ventilation and heat dissipation should be adopted to prevent the bananas from sparse stems. When the temperature is low, Heating is required at 20 degrees. Bananas treated with ethephon can quickly soften and turn yellow, the astringency disappears, the starch decreases, and the sugar content increases. |
Used to accelerate the fall of dates, hawthorn, olives, ginkgo and other fruits | Jujube: Spray ethephon during the jujube white ripening stage to the crisp ripening stage. If used for processing candied dates, the application time can be appropriately advanced, and the sprayed ethephon concentration should be 0.0002%. ~0.0003% is good. Because the jujube peel is very thin, if it is a raw food variety, it is not suitable to use ethephon to expel it. Hawthorn: Generally, 0.0005% to 0.0008% ethephon solution is sprayed 7 to 10 days before normal harvest of hawthorn. Olives: Generally, when the olives are close to maturity, spray a 0.0003% concentration ethephon solution. The above fruits will fall off by shaking the branches 3 to 4 days after spraying. |
Used to cultivate short and strong rice seedlings | When the continuous cropping late rice seedlings grow to the five or six leaf stage, spray ethephon, which can make the seedlings short and strong, save effort in pulling out the seedlings, and after transplanting, the rice will turn green quickly, tiller early, and heading. Advantages of waiting early. |
Plant growth regulators are artificially synthesized organic compounds with physiological activity, similar to plant hormones, that can regulate plant physiological processes, control plant growth and reproduction. Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) and naphthoic acid (NAA) are two commonly used plant growth regulators for cutting and rooting. Among them, indole-3-butyric acid has the best effect because it operates less in the plant body and is easily retained near the site of use.
Specific use
MANGO |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) For inducing flowering and breaking alternate bearing use Ethephon 200 ppm solution. Spray the trees Four times at fortnightly intervals, first application late September or early October. |
APPLES |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) To promote flower initiation on young, non-bearing tree, spray 500 ppm Ethephon solutions 2-4 weeks after full bloom period. To hasten ripening and improves colour and taste, spray 750 ppm solution. 10 days before harvest. |
CITRUS |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) Post harvest treatment with 500 ppm Ethephon solution helps in removing green colour from the citrus fruits ( 10 days before the harvest ). |
PINEAPPLES |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) Flower Induction Pour 40 ml 200 ppm Ethephon solution directly into the heart of the plant with a cup. The best time for application is when they have 30 to 37 leaves. For hasten ripening spray 200 ppm Ethephon solution on plants and fruits 1 to 2 weeks before anticipated time of harvest. |
POTATO |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) Potato crop can be sprayed with 500 ppm 10 to 15 days before harvest to help the desiccation Of aerial vegetative parts to make harvesting of potatoes easier. |
PADDY |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) Lodging is a common phenomenon in paddy, especially in tall varieties by which large quantity of the produce is lost either in water or on the ground of the paddy fields and also makes it difficult for harvesting. This can be prevented by treating paddy crops with two sprays with 250 ppm Ethephon solution, the first spray four weeks after transplantation and the second before flag leaf stage. |
COFFEE |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) To get uniform ripening of berries. in both verities of coffee Robusta - Spray 100 ppm sl 10-15 % berries are ripe and Arabica - Spray 200 ppm sl 10-15 % berries are ripe. |
GRAPES |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) Ethephon helps in flower bud differentiation of grapes. Spray Ethephon 400 ppm. Solution 45 days after pruning. The second application using the same concentration of Ethephon may be made a week after the first application. To induce new flush, spray Ethephon 250 ppm. directing the spray on the frame immediately after pruning. For uniform ripening of grapes, spray 400 to 500 ppm. Ethephon sl 25 days before the harvest. This treatment makes grapes sweeter with the increase in total soluble solids. |
PAPAYA |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) Spray 100 -200 ppm sl 3 times at 15 days interval on fertilized flowers to increase the latex yield of Papain. |
SUNFLOWER |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) To promote flower initiation on young, non-bearing tree, spray 500 ppm Ethephon solutions 2-4 weeks after full bloom period. To hasten ripening and improves colour and taste, spray 750 ppm solution. 10 days before harvest. |
SUGARCANE |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) To accelerate early and uniform ripening and to increase the sucrose content of sugarcane spray Etephon 500 ppm. 10-12 weeks before the anticipated time of harvest. The spray should be directed on the leaf canopy with a pressure sprayer. Good growth of crop after spraying appears to be necessary for a response to be obtained. The first ripening effect of Ethephon is usually detected about 4 weeks after spraying and this can be delayed by 2 to 4 weeks when there is water stress. The optimum time for harvest would be between 6 to 12 weeks after spraying. This treatment can also help in preventing flowering. Sugarcane setts dipped in Ethephon 250 ppm solution for 5 minutes, before planting stimulates uniform germination of setts. To improve tillering spray 250 ppm after 2 and half month old crop with Ethephon. |
CHILLIES |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) To get uniform ripening and good colour in chillies spray 250 ppm when 10 % green chillies start changing its colour to red. |
PLUM |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) For ripening spray 400 ppm sl 2 to 3 weeks before the anticipated time of harvest. |
GROUND NUT |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) To break seed dormancy and improves germination, soak the seeds in 100 ppm sl for few minutes before sowing. |
LAWN GRASSES |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) Ethephon 200 ppm sl on lawn grasses reduce number of moving considerabl and helps to have thick and short turf. |
TABACCO |
( ETHEPHON 39% SL ) For hastening the leaf maturity spray 1000 - 2000 ppm. Ethephon solution. It helps in good colour development and thereby reduce the curing time. Within 2 -3 days after the application of Ethephon the leaves will be ready for harvesting by which yellowing time is considerably reduced. This treatment is excellent for the crop meant for Flue Cured Tobacco. By using Ethephon, harvesting can be planned depending on the market demand and curing facility. For hardening of seeding, before transplanting give a dip in a solution of 100 ppm. |
